FOLKE KOEBBERLING – WORKING WITH RECLAIMED MATERIALS

Folke Koebberling presented the work of artists’ practice Kobberling Kaltwasser at the Royal college of art ‘work in progress show’ at the Kensington Gore Campus.

In the context of the ads3 interim use architecture thematic, discussion centred on the subversive manner of making objects and space within the city, in particular on public realm or common land.

Folke’s early work ‘hausbau’ had a strong influence on the direction of their practice, and a very left a strong impression on me in regards to the ways in which public space is attained. In ‘Hausbau’ (http://www.architekturclips.de/gropiusstadt) Kobberling Kaltwasser build an ‘overnight’ house out of reclaimed materials from Berlin, in an empty and wild site opposite a dense zone of newly built mass housing.
